‘Twilight’ to film one or two days in LaPush

LAPUSH — One or two days of filming of the upcoming movie “Twilight” will take place at First Beach in LaPush in the next several weeks, its studio announced.
The schedule of exactly when has not been established yet by the studio, Summit Entertainment.
“Twilight” is based on a series of books by Arizona writer Stephenie Meyer, who set them in Forks.
The series follows the adventures of a 17-year-old girl, Bella Swan, who moves to Forks to live with her police chief dad, Charlie.
It is in Forks that she meets and falls in love with the dazzling and enigmatic Edward Cullen, who she later discovers is also a vampire.
One of the critical scenes involves a Quileute teen, Jacob Black, telling Bella of the legends of “the cold ones” or vampires — thus exposing Edward as a vampire.
That scene takes place at a party at First Beach.
The teen actor set to play Jacob is Taylor Lautner, who recently starred in “The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl.”
“Twilight” will star Kristin Stewart as Bella and Robert Pattinson as Edward in the lead roles.
The scenes in LaPush include both Bella and Jacob, but Edward is not part of those scenes.
Director Catherine Hardwicke was in Forks and LaPush in late January. She made test shots of First Beach at that time.
Filming began in Portland, Ore., on Feb. 25 and is expected to last about 50 days, said Peter Silberman, unit publicist for the film.
Forks was ruled out for major scenes, but some exterior shots of buildings could end up in the movie.
The Forks Police Department has been asked for its badges, uniforms and details on their weapons to maintain authenticity in the movie — and in particular Charlie’s uniform, Mayor Nedra Reed has said.
Most of the Forks High School scenes will be shot at Kalama High School, about 40 miles from Portland, Ore., in Washington state.
Kalama’s large brick building bears a resemblance to Forks High School, although it is larger than the school building in Forks.
The majority of the film is being shot in the Portland metro area.
The book Twilight has been followed by two sequels, New Moon and Eclipse.
The fourth book Breaking Dawn will be released on Aug. 2.
Meyer has said on her Web site — www.stepheniemeyer.com — that Breaking Dawn will be the final installment of the series.

I can’t believe that they would pick Taylor to play Jacob!!! They should have picked Steven Strait, he actually LOOKS 16 or 17, not 15. Taylor is WAY to young (I just found out he was born in ‘92). There, I feel better now that the producers HAVE RUINED THE MOVIE!!! Grr!!!!!!!
I’m thinking since Jacob is about 15 when she first meets him in Twilight then in New Moon he grows like a foot and turns 16 that maybe they will get an older actor for New Moon. Jacob isn’t in Twilight all that much, mostly New Moon. And yeah Steven Straight would be perfect in New Moon.
Omg that guy should Not be playing Jacob!! Steven Strait is absolutaly PERFECT to play Jacob! He was the obvious and best choice! And we’ve seen Steven Strait with long and short hair! He looks good bout ways! Plus this Taylor guy isn’t even hot! I also thought they made such a mess of picking Edward…Who would choose Robert Pattison?!?! Instead of Henry Cavill!! um…in Twilight Jacob Black is a newly turned fifteen year old. He’s supposed to be young looking. Therefore they didn’t ruin the movie but rather make it more accurate. i mean come on. we all know Steven Strait is a babe but he’s 22. Taylor Lautner is as close as you can get if you ask me. So before we start criticizing him on his “Jacobness” maybe we should go watch the movie, and then base our opinions off him. Also if New Moon and Eclipse is made into a movie then not only will Taylor age more but movie magic will be able to make him look older, brawnier, and how we imagine what Jacob Black is supposed to look like during his wolf years. and if for some strange reason they decide to change the actor of Jacob [which i highly doubt since we all watched Daniel Radcliffe grow up throughout the Harry Potter movies] maybe Steven Strait would play Jacob Black which would be pefectly fine. Anyway bottom line is “Don’t Judge A Book By It’s Cover”

and i do believe that for this movie it’s ok that they chose such a young looking actor to play jacob because if steven strait is cast for the next 2 movies (if there will be more) then it would show a more drastic change in his features (as if hes grown.. not as if he was cast by someone else) and so i believe that so far the casting for jacob will work out fun as a temporary thing..

Will everyone get over it? Taylor Lautner is 16, and he will be great in Twilight and New Moon. Taylor is 5′ 9′, and as movie magic they can make him huge. Steven Strait isn’t doing it, and before everyone says steven strait would be better watch the movie! Steven Strait is way too old!
okay… this Jacob makes me feel like a creepy old woman… He is young enough to be my son!! eek! I can deal with that for twilight because I kinda pictured him young and dopey looking but New Moon better have a Taller darker brawnier hotter more native looking fabou Jacob!!! Robert Pattinson is PERFECT to play the part and so is Kristen Stewart! I think Carlisle Cullen is sooooo ugly they need to change him. he doesn’t look the part at alll. he needs to be a hot 20 something not ugly and old. his face doesn’t even look real!

I think he’s perfect. In the first book, Bella thought of Jake as a kid. He was scrawny and goofy-looking.

i think the cast is great. but i think edward’s hair should have been shorter ‘cuz if he messes up his hair, he looks like a hobo. he has good looks, good hair but not great hair.

I saw the movie just last night, and Taylor was an ok pick. I think they would’ve been a little more realistic and accurate by picking an actual native american.
